5 Great Places to Eat in Lake Placid

Emma's Lake Placid

Lake Placid, New York can be a great place to visit no matter what time of year it is.  Delicious restaurants are just one of the many awesome parts of this section in the Adirondacks. The town of Lake Placid is packed with awesome places to eat that are only short drives away from many of the great outdoor adventures found in the area. Here are some of the restaurants I loved when I went on my first trip to the Adirondacks.

Lisa G’s

Lisa G’s is a dog-friendly restaurant along a river off of Lake Placid. Their food menu offers a variety of different options with influences from multiple food cultures.  I ordered their Hot & Sour Mushroom Noodle Bowl and loved it! Not only do they have great food, but their drink menu has many unique drinks that taste great. If you are planning on eating here on a weekend, you may want to make reservations ahead of time; especially if you are visiting during the summer months. You can make reservations on their website.

Smoke Signals

Smoke signals is a barbeque restaurant with an amazing back space that overlooks Lake Placid.  Their food is deliciously smoked in house.  I highly recommended the pulled pork sandwich and my mom raves about their southwest salad as being the best salad she has ever eaten. I highly recommend making reservations here if you are planning on eating here on the weekend because this place can get really busy. You can make reservations on their website.

Big Slide Brewery

Big Slide was recommended to us by a local as their favorite restaurant in the area.  They have an awesome rotating beer and food menu that changes with the seasons.  This is because they partner with local farms to get fresh ingredients. They also have a farm-to-table brunch on Sundays. Their food was a little on the pricey side, but I think supporting local businesses and farms is well worth the price.  Not to mention their beer was some of the best that I tried in Lake Placid.  On their website, you can look up the menu ahead of time to know what they are serving that day and you can check to see how busy they are.

Luna

Luna is an upscale restaurant that offers awesome Italian food! It was also open a little later than other restaurants in the area so, after a long day of hiking, their food really hit the spot. Although, I have to admit that while upscale restaurants here don’t seem to have too strict of a dress code, we were still a little underdressed coming here right off a trail. Everyone in my group ordered a dish and ended up loving it! I ordered the chicken and mushroom plate and found the sauce to be extremely good! Another person in my group ordered the chicken parmesan and was surprised at how perfectly cooked the chicken was. It is important to note that since this is an upscale restaurant, their prices are higher than other restaurants in the area.

Emma’s

This is the place to go if you are looking for a dessert. Their enormous selection of different treats is deliciously daunting! From creative specialty sundaes to their exotic flavors of mochi, anyone is sure to find something on the menu that they are interested in trying.  This place is really popular and even during the off-season, their line was down the street. So be prepared to wait a little for your treat, especially if you come in the summertime.  However, just know that it is totally worth the wait! Browse your way through their extensive menu on their website.

Lake Placid is a great area to stay in while you are exploring the Adirondacks. There are a plethora of restaurants, but these were the 5 that my group and I enjoyed the most during our stay. Feel free to leave a comment for any other restaurants in the area that you enjoyed on your trip to Lake Placid, New York.
